Privacy Policy

Nimbus is a macOS focus app (currently in beta) and this website, nimbusfocus.app. This page explains what each one collects, what leaves your Mac, and who sees it. It says only what Nimbus actually does.
This website
The waitlist. If you join the beta we collect your email address, an optional first name, the time you signed up, and which form on the page you used. We use them to invite you to the beta and to send occasional beta-related updates. They are stored in a Cloudflare D1 database. We do not store your IP address in that database.
Hosting and abuse protection. The site is hosted on Cloudflare. As with any website, Cloudflare may process ordinary network and security information (such as your IP address) to deliver the site and protect it. To tell people from automated bots, the waitlist form uses Cloudflare Turnstile. It loads only when you start using the form, and Cloudflare's own privacy policy applies to what it processes.
What we don't use. This website has no analytics and no advertising trackers.
Removing your information. Email support@nimbusfocus.app and we will delete your waitlist entry.
The Nimbus app
Stored on your Mac. Your settings, focus-session history, Commitments and their steps are kept as files in the app's data folder on your Mac. Your OpenAI API key is stored in the macOS Keychain, not in those files. You supply that key yourself.
Focus modes. During a session Nimbus compares the front app, and the site of your browser tab, with the list you chose. It does not read what is on your screen to do this. If you use website blocking, the Nimbus browser extension (Chromium-based browsers only) blocks the sites you chose. It does not read or store your browsing history. When a blocked site is attempted, Nimbus records only the hostname, the browser and the time, on your Mac. It never records a full address.
Your network. Nimbus does not change your system's networking: not your hosts file, DNS, proxy, routing, firewall or VPN settings.
No analytics. The app has no analytics or advertising trackers. (macOS itself may offer to send crash reports to Apple; that is controlled by your system settings, not by Nimbus.)
Get Unstuck and OpenAI
Nimbus does not watch or continuously record your screen. Screen context is shared only when you explicitly select an area of your screen for Get Unstuck.
What is sent. When you ask for help, Nimbus may send OpenAI the area you selected, your question, and the task and current step you are working on. Follow-up questions in the same conversation are sent too. The request goes from your Mac to OpenAI using your own API key. We do not receive it. OpenAI handles it under its own terms and privacy policy, and your OpenAI account is billed for the usage.
How screenshots are handled.
- A selected screenshot is held in memory only. It is never written to disk.
- While a Get Unstuck conversation is active it can stay in memory, so follow-ups and retries can use the original context.
- Closing or hiding the conversation panel does not end the conversation.
- Starting a new conversation discards the conversation and its screenshots.
- Quitting Nimbus clears it. Nothing is kept across a relaunch.
Optional step suggestions. These are off by default. If you turn them on and ask for suggestions, your Commitment's title and steps, and the names of apps and sites you used during sessions, are sent to OpenAI using your API key.
Who else sees data
We do not sell personal information. The service providers involved are Cloudflare (website hosting, security and the waitlist database) and OpenAI (only when you use Get Unstuck or step suggestions with your own key).
How long we keep it
We retain waitlist information while operating the beta waitlist and for as long as reasonably needed to administer it. You can ask us to delete your information at any time. Different app data is kept for different lengths of time, as described above. Get Unstuck screenshot context is kept only in memory for the active conversation, and is cleared when you start a new conversation or Nimbus exits.
Your choices
You can ask us to delete your waitlist entry, delete the app's data folder, and remove your API key from within the app at any time. Depending on where you live you may have further rights over your information; email us and we will help.
Children
Nimbus is not directed at children.
Changes
This is a beta and the product will change. We will update this page and its date when it does.
